Is LaBoracay 2019 Cancelled? What you Need to Know

Posted on by Staff Writer

The Aklan Provincial government cancelled all festivities surrounding LaBoracay 2018. The status of Laboracay in 2019 remains undecided. While local tour operators and the community of hotels hope that some arrangement can be reached, it is looking like 2019 will be the same. If Laboracay is allowed in 2019 the festivities will be different than the massive beach parties that have been held in the past.

The new sustainability rules implemented on the island, such as no beach fireworks (for a portion of the day) no beach buffet’s and no drinking (or smoking!) on the beach mean that if the festival is given a green light it will be transformed into more of a beach path & bar scene.

In 2019, Boracay Island will remain open for tourism, and the nightlife is still great; but it will be a more practical, less insane version of the past.

When is Laboracay 2019, and what can I do?

Laboracay coincides with Labor Day which is the weekend closest to the first day in May. There are things you can still do on the island to get your party on (providing a curfew isn’t implemented).  In either event, we’d like to point you to a complete list of all activities on the Island which you can use to ensure that you still leave the island ultimately content,  with great photos and a great experience.

#1. Main Land Adventures
No LaBoracay got you down? Try going to the mainland for a jungle adventure. Have a few drinks in the river and experience the real Philippines.

#2. The Pub Crawl
Were you intent on having some drinks and touring the islands local party spots?  At the time of this writing, the pub crawl is still in operation.

#3. Follow year heart. Book any of these other activities in advance or at the last moment.

LaBoracay is one of the top annual parties on the island. It may be cancelled for 2019 but we sincerely hope that guests still coming to the island find other ways to enjoy time to its fullest!
