There are two ways to get from Caticlan Airport to Boracay Island. You can book an all-inclusive airport transfer pass with a reputable provider like My Boracay Guide. This is a convenient and hassle-free option, as it covers all stages of your journey including land and boat transfers, from the airport all the way to your hotel in Boracay. This transfer also includes all terminal and environmental fees, ferry tickets and the guides even assist you with your luggage!

The second way is to make your own way. This option can be a bit more challenging, as it involves handling multiple stages of the journey independently, including arranging your own boat transfer and lining up for the environmental and terminal fees and ferry tickets. This can be a little complicated after a long flight and in the Boracay Heat but in the end is the cheapest option for budget travelers.

Let’s delve deeper into both options, starting with My Boracay Guide transfer services.

The Step by Step Guide from Caticlan Airport to Boracay (DIY)

Some of you brave travelers will want to tackle the journey from Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (Caticlan Airport) to Boracay Island all on your own which is all part of the adventure, but please, whatever you do, don’t be that person who chooses to walk from Caticlan Airport to Caticlan Jetty Port. I have seen it before and while using your legs is the cheapest way, I do not envy those few warriors that ape their luggage down the road in the sweltering Boracay heat for 30 minutes to save $3 US dollars. If you’re planning to venture into an exhausting roller coaster of a trip and want to make it yourself, here’s how to do it:

Pro-Tip – Do Not Choose to Walk from Caticlan Airport to Caticlan Jetty Port

1.Take a Trike From Caticlan Airport to Caticlan Jetty Port

Upon exiting the new Caticlan airport terminal, you’ll find a line-up of traditional motor Tricycles (trikes) across the street. The ride costs 150 PHP per trike for the 10-minute trip to get from Caticlan Jetty port. Tricycles, the local version of a taxi, offer a unique and fun way to travel.

2. Purchase Your Boat Ticket, Terminal, and Environmental Fees

The Port fees for foreign guests and local citizens are different. You need to line-up and purchase these tickets at the correct Jetty Port counter before making your way to the boat.

Remember if you choose to book with one of the trusted transport companies you won’t need to wait in these long line-ups. Once the ferry ticket, terminal, and environmental fee line are purchased, you can make your way through the security check and enter the Jetty Port Terminal.

POrt Fees

Environmental Fee Terminal Fee Boat Fee
Local Tourist 150.00PHP 150.00PHP 50.00PHP
Foreign Tourist 300.00PHP 150.00PHP 50.00PHP

3. Register With the Department of Tourism (DOT)

Once inside the Jetty Port, you will need to register with the Department of Tourism and present your valid ID.

4. Take a Ferry to get from Caticlan Port to Boracay Port

The Caticlan Jetty Port has traditional pump boats that ferry passengers from Caticlan Jetty Port to Cagban Port 24 hours a day. The Boracay pump boat schedule during the day leaves every few minutes, so you won’t have to wait long.

After sunset, however, you can expect to wait a while as the captain waits for the pump boat to fill up before departing. The Boracay ferry travel time from the Caticlan Jetty Port to the Cagban Jetty Port is usually around 10 to 15 minutes.

Porter Fee from Caticlan Port to Boracay Port and vice versa

If you have heavy luggage, there are porters to assist you. The porter fee is 30 pesos per medium bag and 50 pesos per larger bag. These men are a big help with maneuvering your luggage on and off the boat on the rickety pump boat gangplanks. Well worth it in my opinion.

Boracay Ferry Schedule

The direct ferry service between Caticlan and Boracay Island runs 24 hours a day and the boat ride across the Tablas Strait typically takes around 10 to 15 minutes. It’s one of the primary means of transportation for travelers and locals to get between the mainland and the island. For an additional cost, you can request to charter your own private boat to get from Caticlan to the port of Boracay.

Boracay Boat Fee

Day Time Night Time
Boat Fee 50.00PHP 100.00PHP
Chartered Boat 50.00PHP 2,500.00PHP

The Philippines Seasons: Amihan and Habagat

Boracay island experiences two distinct seasons where the wind blows from the Northeast (Habagat) and then switches to the Southwest (Amihan). During the Amihan season, the boat ports will change to ports that are more protected and away from the wind and strong seas.

Habagat Northeast Monsoon: from November to May the Boracay ferry schedule will utilize Caticlan Jetty Port and Cagban Jetty Port.

Amihan Southwest Monsoon: from June until October the Boracay ferry schedule will utilize Tabon Port (Caticlan mainland island) and Tambisaan Port (Boracay Island)

5. Take an E-Trike from Boracay Port to your Hotel or Resort

Ready your Google Maps and locate your hotel. The distance from Cagban Port or Tambisaan Port to the center of Boracay is about 20 minutes. There will be a line of E-trikes waiting to take you from the Cagban port to your hotel room. The tricycle ride fare varies depending on the distance to your destination. Usually, the standard E-trike fare is 150 PHP per chartered Etrike trip or 200 PHP if your destination is a bit further away than Boracay town center.

6. Arriving at Your Hotel or Resort

The E-trikes cannot drive on the actual beach but will leave you as close as they can get to your hotel. The E-trike drivers should know the right place to drop you off for most Boracay hotels. Then it’s only a short walk until you arrive at your hotel room.

As you can see, getting from Caticlan to Boracay all by yourself isn’t as hard as one might think. It can be very stressful your first time, but once you have done it a few times it becomes much easier.  And remember, if you don’t want to worry about anything and have all of this taken care of for you, we at MyBoracayGuide can help you arrange all the fees for perfect hassle-free transfer.
