How to Get from Caticlan to Boracay

What a beautiful day we had on Boracay today!

Yours truly, however, was mostly indoors helping the sun-seekers plan their Boracay trips.  Today inspired me to blog about one of the most common questions I get asked, how do I get from Caticlan to Boracay?

It’s understandable that people are a little worried about this leg of the trip.  With all of the careful planning for one’s ultimate Boracay getaway who wants to get stuck out in the heat in Caticlan without knowing what to do next?  Luckily it’s not that hard.

Let the curtain be pulled back and the mystery revealed!

The simplest way to make the trip is to book your transport through MyBoracayGuide.com  via this page:

Standard Transfer (shared with other guests)

First Class Transfer (private air-conditioned van for your group)

This no hassle, all-inclusive transport, gets you from either Caticlan (MPH) or Kalibo (KLO) airports to your hotel’s front door quickly and conveniently.

My Boracay Guide Arrival Guide

If you would like to make the trip yourself here are the easy to follow instructions:

1. Take a Trike From Caticlan Airport to Caticlan Port – After getting out of the new airport terminal go across the street and your will find a line up of Motor Tricycles (trikes). The ride costs 150 PhP per trike for the 10-minute trip to the port.

Caticlan Tricycles

2. Purchase Your Terminal and Environmental Fees – If you are a non-resident you are required to pay a 150 PHP for local guest and 300 PHP for foreign guest Environmental fee, and a 150 PHP Terminal fee. You need to line-up and purchase these tickets outside the Jetty Port before you enter.

3. Register With the Department of Tourism (DOT) – Once inside the Jetty Port you will need to sign up with the department of tourism and present your accredited hotel reservation for approval. If you don’t have a hotel reservation with an accredited hotel you are not permitted to enter. Click to see the full list of Accredited Boracay Hotels.

Register with the Department of Tourism

4. Take a Ferry From Caticlan Port to Boracay Port – The Jetty Port has traditional bangka pump boats that ferry between the Caticlan mainland and Boracay Island 24 hours a day. Expect to wait a while during the night as the captain waits for the boat to fill up before departing. If you prefer not to wait you can charter a Bangka for 2,000 – 2,500 PHP (nighttime) and 1,500 PHP (daytime). The cost of the boat trip is 50 PHP (daytime) and 100 PHP (nighttime), The trip from mainland to the island is approximately 10 minutes. If you have heavy luggage, there are porters to assist you at 20 PHP per bag.

Take a boat to Boracay

5. Take a Trike from Boracay Port to White Beach – Depending on the season, you will arrive at one of two Boracay Ports – Cagban Port in the High Season (November – May) and Tambisaan Port in the Low Season (June – October). The distance from either to White Beach is about fifteen minutes. There will be a long line of Motortrikes to take you from the port to White Beach. This trip is 150 PHP per motortrike, or 200 PHP if you are foreigner.

Boracay Etricycle

6. Arriving at Your Hotel or Resort – The Motortrikes cannot go to the actual beach, but will leave you on the Main Road with a path that leads down to White Beach. The larger paths have pedal trikes that can take you down to your resort, or you can walk the five minutes. The Motortrike drivers should know the right drop off place for most Boracay hotels.

As you can see, getting from Caticlan to Boracay isn’t as hard as one might think.  Remember, if you don’t want to worry about anything and have all of this taken care of for you, we at MyBoracayGuide can help you arrange the perfect Boracay Airport Transfer.

Would like to know the exact fares for all the transfers from Caticlan to Boracay. We are a group of 7 pax with the following details:
    > Group 1: 2 adults + 2 kids (under 12 y.o.)
    > Group 2: 2 adults + 1 kid (under 12 y.o.)

Do kids have to pay the same amount for the Terminal, Boat and Environment fees?

We are bound to Station 2. Do we need to take the trike upon arriving at Boracay Port? How far is the port to Station 2?

    Would appreciate your inputs.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

How about for Filipino citizens? Can you post also the fares per transportation?I’m quite confused also with the info’s you’ve posted as your blog and with your reply to Linn because the prices are quite different.
We will be there on September last week. Do you have any idea Cheaper small hotels that we can stay?
We are on a budget…hehehe. Thank you so much!I really need your help..I’m planning now for our trip..

    Daisy

    • Hello!
Filipino citizens and foreigners will have to pay the same price upon arrival. The rates on the blog has not yet updated as recently the government fees increased. Please find the rates below:

From Caticlan Airport Trike – 50php /trip good for 3pax
      Terminal Fee – 100php /person
      Environmental fee – 75 php / person
      Boat fare – 25php /person
Boracay port to your resort trike – 150php /trip good for 3 pax

  34. blank Linn says:

    Hi,

I’m alittle bit confused of your prices for public transport from Caticlan Airport. Let me know if I got it right? We are 2 persons, foreigners. So it will cost 50PhP for a trike for bopth of us from Airport to the port. Boat ride including all the fees will be 125PHP per person, total 250 PhP for 2. Then ride from port to White Beach 150PhP for 2 persons. Total of 450PhP for 2 foreigners from Caticlan airport to White Beach Boracay?

An other question; How will Christmas and New Year time be like at boracay? Anything special happening?

Do you have any recommandation of accomadation for an adult couple who travel as backpackers and on low budget. Looked at your accomadations but too pricey for us unfortunately as we’ll be travelling a long time. Maybe it’s possible to get discount for 10days stay? We’re thinking of arriving 22nd or 23rd Dec this year.

Hope we’ll hear from you soon. Thank you 🙂

    Linn 🙂

    • Hello!
Caticlan airport – to jetty port – 50PHP/per trike trip

    Hi,

First I would like to say that your blog is very helpful!
My question is about the weather. We’ll be in Boracay from aug.1st until aug.4th. For that period will the rain season be already over? What is your experience in the past years? Would you please suggest a reliable website where I can check weather forecast/statistics and previous year’s records?

Thanx a lot for your support.

    • With regards to island weather, do keep in mind that Boracay has a tropical climate, with an average temperature of around 30°C (88°F) and humidity of 75%. The year is divided into two distinct seasons. The rainy season begins around June and ends in late October. During this time rain showers tend to be very heavy but are short in duration , often at night or mornings leaving most of the day for getting around. Please keep in mind though that weather anywhere else including Boracay can be quite unpredictable.

For a quick synopsis of current weather, try the WindGuru or Pagasa for real-time weather-and high resolution model forecasts. For storm forecasts and tracking, try JTWC, JMA, TSR, or typhoon2000.

Hope this somewhat clarifies your weather concerns.

Yes there are bankas at 9pm. You will probably find that many people on your flight will also be looking to get to Boracay around the same time as you. If you would like to charter your own banka I believe you can ask the officials in the jetty port to do this for you.

how about going to caticlan from iloilo?? can u give me full details??

        • Iloilo City – Kalibo – Caticlan

Ceres Bus and GM Liner both operate regular and frequent buses running both directions between these towns, some of them air-conditioned.

Ceres buses from Iloilo to Kalibo take 3 to 5 hours, while its Iloilo to Kalibo take 6 to 7 hours and run three times daily.

          Iloilo Phone: +63-33-321-2591 & 337-0456

GM Liner buses between Iloilo and Caticlan run twice daily and take 6 to 8 hours.

          Iloilo Phone: +63-33-337-5605 & 508-7406

Mini-Vans also run both directions between these towns. Iloilo to Caticlan non-stop takes 4 to 5 hours. The trip may also be broken up, with a 3 to 4 hour ride from Iloilo to Kalibo, and a second ride from Kalibo to Caticlan of 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours.

Taxis will take you non-stop from Iloilo to Caticlan in 3 to 4 hours. This is a faster but more expensive way to travel.

If you have booked transport through My Boracay Guide we can arrange a 4am banka for you. Please note that My Boracay Guide transport is available exclusively to our guests.

    Hi,

This web is great! good work here.

I am visiting Boracay will be landing at Kalibo at 19.15h on Thursday. My question is, is it too late to get a mini van and then a boat to reach Boracay the same day? maybe there are no boat crossing the channel at around 22.00¿?

    Thanks for your help

    • Thank you! Glad you like the site.

You can certainly get a van to Caticlan at that time and there will be bankas ferrying people over to Boracay till 10pm. If for some reason you arrive later than that you can always charter a banka to take you across (1500 PHP).

i just want to ask how much is the terminal fee for manila domestic and for kalibo international airport… am really confused how much do we really have to pay

    • Hi,

The Manila domestic terminal fee is 200 PHP. Kalibo is 40 PHP. You only have to pay these fees when you depart.

      • blank lance de dios says:

Just want to ask what time is the sunset and sunrise in boracay?
Are visitors allowed to stay in crystal cove till 7pm?

    Thanks & regards,

  114. blank Janet says:

Your website is very helpful. My husband and I are planning to go to Boracay this May 2010. I’m confused with some fees mentioned. For example, the airport terminal fee from manila to kalibo is 200pesos. Are we going to pay another 200pesos also going back from kalibo to manila? Same with the environment fee which is 50pesos and terminal port fee which is another 50pesos? Or are we going to pay it only one time? Thanks again.

    • Hi,

It is the transport fee which is 200 PHP. Therefore you would also pay it for the return trip. For the other fees, you pay the port and environmental going to Boracay and only the port coming back.

  115. blank rebs says:

  117. blank Ril says:

    Hello!

I was glad I’ve seen your site!
    It’s very informative:)
But I still have questions to ask. We’re planning to visit Bora on the teen of december and it’ll will be our first time that’s why I’m pretty much particular on not to spoil it.
Tentatively we’re getting PAL Manila-Caticlan after that, I’ve followed your instructions below.

    1. Caticlan Airport to Caticlan Port – After getting out of the small airport go to the right. There will be a line up of Motor Tricycles (trikes). The ride costs 50 PhP per trike for the five-minute trip to the port.

    2. Caticlan Port to Boracay Port – The Jetty Port has Bangka pump boats that ferry between the Caticlan mainland and Boracay Island from Sunrise to Sunset. There are sometimes ferries after dark, but not reliably so. The Bangka trip is 25 PhP, however non-residents also pay a 50 PhP environmental fee, and a 50 PhP Terminal fee. You need to get these tickets outside the Jetty Port before you enter. The trip from mainland to the island is 20 minutes. If you have heavy luggage, there are porters to assist you at 20 PhP per item tip.

    3. Boracay Port to White Beach – Depending on the season, you will arrive at one of two Boracay Ports – Cagban Port in the High Season and Tambisaan Port in the Low Season. The distance from either to White Beach is about ten minutes. There will be a long line of Motortrikes to take you from the port to White Beach. This trip is 100 PhP per motortrike, or 150 PhP if you are foreigner.

    4. White Beach – The Motortrikes cannot go to the actual beach, but will leave you on the Main Road with a path that leads down to White Beach. The larger paths have pedal trikes that can take you down to your resort, or you can walk the five minutes. The Motortrike drivers should know the right drop off place for most Boracay hotels.

FROM HERE how will i get to Shangri-la Hotel?(It is the closest hotel we have status)
is there any other means of transportation other than trike?

*I’ve considered the instructions in this link http://www.myboracayguide.com/transportation.html as well for an option.
what is the best deal to get?

    What station is Shangrila located?
And what station do you suggest to spend most of our time?(which includes fun, activities etc)
and is it far from Shang?

Hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanx.

    • Hello!

Following those directions will get you to Boracay island. We are not affiliated with Shangrila so I’m not sure what their transport options are. I’m sure they offer transport to their guests but I’m not sure of the price. You can contact them for more info. Shangrila is not on White beach so it does not have a station. It has its own private beach north of White Beach. To get to White Beach you will need to take a trike or use their transport. It should take about 10 minutes. I know Shangrila has their own activity center though my guess is that it’s more expensive than what you would find on White Beach. As for what activities to do, I think that’s up to you. There’s so much to choose from. Parasailing at sunset is one of my favorites.

hi, is heavy traffic possible on bus ride Kalibo>Caticlan? a friend told me that it took them 8 hrs to get to boracay because of traffic. is this true?

    thanks.

  119. blank doy says:

tnx for this site..been to bora like 4 yrs ago, with a chartered bus from kalibo. question…if i want to do it myself this time, are the bus/vans from kalibo terminal to jetty just in front of the airport? or do i need to take tricycle going to the bus terminal?

  120. blank dada says:

Hi there can I ask the step by step land travel from kalibo airport to boracay with exact fare of that ride and the means of tranportation. We will be riding Cebu pacific air and my other friend will be the Zest air. Thank you much and I’m hoping for your favorable response.

    • Outside the Kalibo terminal you will be able to get on a Kalibo->Caticlan bus. The cost is 200 PHP. This will take you to the Caticlan Jetty port where you would then follow the procedure outlined in this blog.

      Hope that helps!

    Hi,

This is an informative website. Cool. We’ll be going to boracay this late October and there are some information that it is barely for us. I would like to ask the following questions since we are via Kalibo airport. we’ll arrive in kalibo probably around 5:10pm and from there,

    1. From Kalibo airport, what tranportation are we going to take to caticlan?like tricyle to terminal bus.how much would be the fare for tricycle and on the bus.

    2. What would be the last trip from caticlan to bora?

    Thank you very much.

    Ryan

    • Hi,

    Hi,
We need to get from Boracay on 10/02/2010 to catch an internatinal flight leaving Manila at 1135.
    Is this realistic?
Are there any hotels/hostels near the airport?

    • Hi,

This is a great question. Lots of people find themselves in this situation and are unsure what to do.

It is entirely possible to make your connecting flight IF there is no delay in your Caticlan -> Manila flight. Flight time to manila is about an hour and a taxi from the domestic terminal to the international terminal is 10-15 minutes.

That being said, there is the possibility of your flight being delayed, canceled, or rerouted to leave out of Kalibo. When any of these things happen it is usually due to weather which can be unpredictable. THis makes me wonder, is your departure in October or February (not sure how you are writing the date there)? Because the likelihood of a weather delay in February is much lower.

As for hotels near the manila airport this is the only one I know of that is right next to the airport: http://www.manila-airporthotel.com/

      I hope this helps.

    Hi,
Me and my friends are planing to visit Boracay in january, we have heard that the plains Manila-Caticlan only are for
persons under 100 kilos/ 200 pounds included bags. Me and my friends weight is around 150/300 pounds each without bags.
    Can´t we go to Boracay?

    • I do not know about this rule. You should contact Sea Air directly (www.flyseair.com) as they are the only ones flying directly to Caticlan. Other airlines are flying into Kalibo and usually Kalibo-bound planes have more relaxed weight restrictions.

  126. blank Rose says:

    Hi,

I learned a lot from your website. My sister, me and 2 other friends are going to bora for the first time. Our flight to Kalibo from Manila is 310pm September 24, 2009. Are the ferry’s available until 10pm even if it is low season? Is it safe to travel at that time? Where can we book tickets for the ferry. I do apologize if I have a lot of questions. hehe. Thanks so much in advance! 🙂

    • Hello!

Great to hear you will be visiting Boracay. Yes, the Ferry’s are usually available till 10pm in low season, though I think with that arrival time in Kalibo you will get to the port before 10. If you were to get to the port and find that the regular ferries are not running then you could just charter one privately for 1500 Pesos. It is also safe to travel at that time. Boracay does it’s best to keep the tourists safe and happy. Ferry tickets are purchased right at the jetty port.

No problem with the questions, this is what we are here for. Please let me know if there’s anything more I can do for you.

  131. blank Mike says:

Great site. Can you tell me what time the last ferry is from Caticlan to Boracay. We have ran into a problem, originally we were set to fly into Caticlan, but apparently they are not taking flights, so we will be arriving in Kaiblo at 510. Will we still make the last ferry if we hurry?

  132. blank Sungit says:

    Nice website 😛

If it’s P650 for transfer services for other resorts, may i know how much will it be if you will assist me with the transport, and is a per head cost? one way? two way?

    Thanks.

  133. blank Aris says:

    Good Day!

    Nice, informative website.

Some resorts are offering trip/transfer services, it cost around P650.00, I think its over priced based on your above blog. Is my observation correct? tnx.

  134. blank Tony Medeiros says:

great website….my questions are, how do you get from Boracay Port to Bulabog Beach resorts such as Cohiba Villas,
is it pretty much the same as going to white beach, trike up the main road and letting you off outside the property and
walking the rest of the way and does it take about the same amount of time and trike fare?
    thanks for the help.

    • Hi Tony,

Thanks for the compliment. In answer to your question, yes, the process and fare are the same when going to Bulabog. For Cohiba Villas the trike will be able to pull right up to the resort.

      Hope that helps.

  135. blank Linda Santos says:

Great info, I was just going to email you asking about this. Also, thank you for helping me with my reservation. I think everything will work out perfectly.
